Hi, Over the last two weeks, I tried to pick up the MIR beacon at 145.55MHz, so far to no avail. At two times, I tried to actually see MIR during visible passes but: nada! I use the orbital elements from ARCHIVE.AFIT.AF.MIL which should be accurate. So my question: Anybody else having problems to pick up MIR? I heard DP3MIR calling CQ! I even managed to work him :) :) 73 Steve - KK4PM ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Oct 1994 08:17:57 From: n7ryw@teleport.com (William Roth) Subject: Am I the only one having trouble to pick up MIR? Mir has had a power generation problem, so the Amateur equipment was turned off. I have heard that there were rare exceptions during Europe passes. I have also heard that by the time you read this, the problems should be fixed and you should be able to get them. I guess it's about time I tuned them in. U3MIR was my first contact as an Amateur. Have fun!!! This could easily happen if the data between your computer and your TNC gets corrupted. This happened to me regularly until I replace the piece of crap cable talking 38400 bps to my DSP2232 with a `real' RS-232 shielded ($35) cable. Bob Robert W.
